To preserve database integrity, one system user is able to write changes to an order whereas other users will be limited to read-only access. Because someone can leave an order open on another workstation and walk away, this screen provides a method to provide exclusive control of an order allowing the user to make and save changes. As indicated in the above grid, there is the possibility of losing any unsaved changes when the Unlock feature is engaged, it all depends on where the other user left off; if they finished what they were doing and the order was left open, that user’s changes will be preserved. If another user had an item entry box open with incomplete data that had not been saved; those changes will be lost in the process of switching who has control.
